Commonwealth Le British Commonwealth of Nations est une association de 54 nations indépendantes, pour la plupart d'anciennes colonies, présidée par le souverain britannique. Leurs Premiers ministres se rencontrent tous les deux ans lors de la Commonwealth Conference pour décider d'une politique d'aide et de coopération dans les domaines de la culture, de l'économie et de l'éducation. Des championnats d'athlétisme (Commonwealth Games) se déroulent tous les quatre ans entre les pays membres. Le mot Commonwealth figure aussi dans le nom officiel de certains États américains (Kentucky, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts).
